PURPOSE: To prevent a pump from corroding with a simple structure, by making the best use of a bottomed barrel surrounding the side of a water setting part of a vertical shaft pump in a separated state, a valve opening or closing an opening and submergible pump at the barrel bottom.
CONSTITUTION: This device is provided with a bottomed barrel 2 surrounding a water setting part of a vertical shaft pump 1 to be set up underwater in a separated state and a base plate 3 setting up this barrel 2, and at a lower opening 11 of the barrel 2, there is provided with a valve 20 opening or closing this opening. In addition, at a bottom part inside the barrel 2, there is provided with a submergible pump 24 for draining water completely from the inside of this part. Therefore, in time of pump operation suspending, fluid inside an outer barrel is completely discharged out in advance whereby complete corrosion prevention for the vertical shaft pump is attaianble.
