Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a cosmetic and an agent for the oral cavity having excellent persistent refreshing feeling without any irritating smell.

CONSTITUTION: These cosmetic and agent for the oral cavity are obtained by blending 2-hydroxymethyl-menthol expressed by the formula which is a substantially odorless compound itself as a cold sense agent in an amount of 0.001-10wt.%, preferably 0.01-5wt.% therein. A compound in which all the substituent groups in the compound expressed by the formula are equatorially located is preferred from the aspects of cold sense actions.
