Abstract:

To provide a photostabilizer for dibenzoylmethane derivatives against UV radiation.

The cosmetic composition includes at least one kind of UV shielding system in a carrier permitted as a cosmetic and also a combination of at least one dibenzoylmethane derivative and at least one pyrrolidinone derivative represented by formula (I) wherein R1 represents a 6-20C aryl radical which is optionally substituted with a linear or branched 1-20C alkyl group, or a linear or branched 1-20C alkyl group and n is 0 or 1, with the proviso that when n is 1, the group R1 cannot be an aryl group and when n is O, R1 cannot be a 1-2C alkyl group. An effective amount of the pyrrolidinone derivative (I) photostabilizes the dibenzoylmethane derivative against UV radiation.
