Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prepare a topical coating composition for reducing the damage due to ultraviolet rays by including a specific citric acid ester having the ability to treat or prevent photo-damaged skin without any adverse effects together with a vehicle and a sunscreen therein. CONSTITUTION: This cosmetic composition comprises an effective amount of a citric acid triester represented by the formula (R<1> to R<3> are each an alkyl, an alkenyl, an aryl, an alkylaryl or an arylalkyl; R<4> is H, an acyl, an alkyl, an aryl, an alkylaryl or an arylalkyl) (tributyl citrate is especially preferred) and a vehicle and a sunscreen suitable therefor (the one having <100μm average particle diameter in the case of an inorganic sunscreen is especially used) and is capable of acting so as to reduce a skin aging process when topically applied (administered) to skin. The citric acid triester formulated together with the sunscreen in the composition to thereby enhance the light stability and activities of the citric acid ester in the preparation by synergistic effects. Furthermore, damaging actions on all the epidermal cells and dermal cells are prevented.
