Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a cosmetic/medical preparation containing peroxidation- treated corn oil, and useful for restoring the embrittled skin of persons being in bed-ridden condition over a long period. CONSTITUTION: Corn oil is first subjected to peroxidation treatment by oxygenation, then exposed to controlled intense ultraviolet rays so as to afford the corn oil with a degree of peroxidation of 50-120meq and contain 5-40meq oxidized glycerides therein followed by, if needed, formulating the resultant corn oil with an aromatic essential oil, vehicle, etc., into an oily or gel-like form, thus obtaining the objective cosmetic/medical preparation. In this case, the definition of the corn oil based on ultraviolet spectrophotometry is such as to be 1-6 for E270 factor, whereas 8-60 for E232 factor. In oily form, the preparation comprises 99wt.% of the peroxidation-treated corn oil and 1wt.% of an aromatic essential oil; while, in gel-like form, 93wt.% of the peroxidation-treated corn oil, 6wt.% of a vehicle, and 1wt.% of an aromatic essential oil.
