To obtain a cosmetic, a quasi-drug, a pharmaceutical and food each safe for skin and containing an active ingredient having a beautifully whitening function by including citrasin C.
The products comprise each pref. about 0.00001 to 10% of citrasin C, which is obtained by: e.g. adding ethanol to the dried product of the leaves of Celosia argentea L. and leaving it as it is for 5 days; subjecting the extract to vacuum-concentration, extracting the evaporated residue by subsequently using hexane and n-butanol; applying a saturated water-solution of basic lead acetate to the obtained n-butanol extract for selectively precipitating acid compounds, thus obtaining an acid and a neutral fractions; and purifying the neutral fraction via gel filtration and silica gel column chromatography processes. The cosmetic or the like may take the form of lotions, emulsions or creams.
