Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a cosmetic raw material composition, comprising a new protein-silicone copolymer in which amino groups of a protein are covalently bound to a silicone or a derivative thereof and useful for formulation with cosmetics such as a conditioner for skin and hair.
CONSTITUTION: This composition is obtained by using a new protein-silicone copolymer prepared by covalently binding amino groups of a protein to an organic functional silane/silicone or a derivative thereof as a cosmetic raw material. The new copolymer has both film-forming and humectant characteristics possessed by the protein and low surface-activities and deforming actions possessed by the silicone. This copolymer is preferably contained in an amount of 0.1-10wt.% in the raw material composition. The protein content in the copolymer is preferably 5-98wt.%. A protein, derived from an animal or a plant or obtained by fermentation and having 500-500,000Da average molecular weight is preferably used as the protein which is the raw material for the copolymer.
