PURPOSE: To provide a cosmetic containing a diterpenoid compound, having at least one characteristic among anti-oxidizing effect, testosterone-5-α-reductase activity-inhibitory effect, ultraviolet light-absorbing effect and antibacterial activity.
CONSTITUTION: The objective cosmetic containing pref. 0.1-10wt.% of a compound selected from compounds (and their derivatives) of formula I [R1 is CHO, CH2OH, CH2OCH3 or CH2OCOC6H5; R2 is =O or combination of H (α) with OH (β), OCH3 (β) or OCOC6H5 (β); R3 is H, OH, O-acyl or OCH3] and compounds (and their derivatives) of formula II [R4 is CHO, CH2OH, CH2OCH3 or CH2OCOC6H5; R5 is H (), OH or OCOC6H5 (β); R6 is =O or combination H (α) with OH (β), OCH3 (β) or OCOC6H5 (β); R7 is H (β) or OH (β); R8 is H, OH, OCH3 or OCOC6H5]. The above compounds (and their derivatives) can be obtained by extracting with an organic solvent the basidiocarp of Phylacteriaceae basidiomycetes, Sarcodon scabrosus, followed by isolation and purification by one of various chromatographic techniques.
