PURPOSE: To provide a semisolid or solid cosmetic having excellent aging stability and giving a durable make-up, by using a specific polyhydric alcohol derivative as a gelatinizing agent for organic solvent, and using a specific resin as a gelatinization assistant in combination with the above gelatinizing agent.
CONSTITUTION: A cosmetic for hair or make-up, e.g. hair-color stick, eye shadow, etc. is prepared by compounding (A) an organic solvent having a boiling point of 50W260°C under normal pressure, e.g. alcohols, glycols, ketones, etc., (B) a compound of formula I WIII (R is H, COOH, 1W3C alkyl, or 1W3C alkoxy; n is 1 or 2), (C) a cellulosic resin such as methyl-, ethyl- or propylcellulose and/ or a vinyl resin such as polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl butyral, etc., (D) a resin such as ketone resin, xylene resin, styrene resin, etc., and (E) a colorant.
