PURPOSE: To provide a cosmetic containing bisabolol and an ultraviolet absorber and effective in protecting the skin from ultraviolet radiation and suppress the inflammation of the skin caused by sunburn.
CONSTITUTION: The objective cosmetic effective to prevent the sunburn and the inflammation caused by sunburn contains (I) 0.001W10wt%, preferably 0.05W5wt% bisabolol (extract from natural source or synthesized product) and (II) 0.0001W10wt%, preferably 0.005W5wt% ultraviolet absorber [e.g. 2-hydroxy-4- methoxybenzophenone, etc., as the absorber of A-region ultraviolet radiation, or N,N-dimethylPABA amyl ester as the absorber of B-region ultraviolet radiation). The cosmetic may contain, in addition to the above essential components, various additives such as aqueous components, powdery component, oily component, surfactant, emollient, thickener, etc. It can be used in the form of a solubilized system such as beauty wash, etc., emulsified system such as milky lotion, or foundation, dispersion, etc.
