The counter for rods is provided with an abutting face 28 abutted on top parts of a plurality of rods 18 arranged in parallel with each other, an operation part 8 for reciprocably following surfaces of the plurality of rods 18 when the abutting face 28 and the plurality of rods 18 are relatively moved while abutting the abutting face 28 on the top parts of the rods 18, a counting part for counting the reciprocating movement, and a display part 16 for displaying the counts of reciprocating movement. Preferably, the operation part 8 has an arm-shape. Preferably, the reciprocating movement of the operation part 8 is turning movement. The counting part carries out counting when the operation part 8 is oriented at a predetermined angle by the turning movement. A turning radius or the threshold angle of the operation part 8 can be varied.
