The coupling device (1) includes a coupler (2), an elastic deformation shock absorber (3), a swing mechanism (6), a plastic deformation shock absorber (7), and a shank guide mechanism (9), etc. The shank guide mechanism (9) includes: a rotary joint (33) provided rotatably with respect to an attaching member (B) fixedly provided on the side of a vehicle (T); and dampers (34, 34) connected to a pair of connection end parts (37, 37) of the rotary joint (33). The other end parts of the dampers (34, 34) are connected to a prescribed member of the elastic deformation shock absorber (3).
