To prevent the occurrence of white smoke in winter or in intermediate seasons, by coupling heat exchanging fins positioned on both sides of each pair surely with each other in upper and lower stages, thereby forming a passage serving both for drying and damping, by means of coupling material being made as a nip part for accommodating and holding the end of the heat exchanging fin.

This cooling tower raises air toward an exhaust port, as a mixed current of air, and warms up and dries the air current as whole and discharges it from the exhaust port in non-oversaturation state so as to prevent the occurrence of white smoke. The air current flowing between the heat exchanging fins 12 positioned in the middle section completely contacts indirectly with the circulating cooling water flowing within the heat exchanging fin 11, and it cools this circulating cooling water by air in each stage, and in accordance with this air cooling, the air warms up with the absolute humidity constant and flows toward the exhaust port as dry air. Especially, the waterdrop of the sprinkled water flowing down over the upper and lower stages is deterred from penetrating into this dry air current passage S by a lip piece inside the coupling material 13 and an outside lip piece.
