Abstract:
PURPOSE: To surely connect a hollow shaft to a component by forming the connection to be determined by the material between a material of a peripheral edge layer of a through opening in the component and a plastically deformed hollow shaft through the hydraulically-operated expansion of the hollow shaft. CONSTITUTION: A component having a through opening corresponding to the outside diameter of a hollow shaft is connected to the hollow shaft under the plastic deformation and the permanent elastic stress of a peripheral edge layer of the through opening of the component to be expanded by the hydraulically- operated expansion of the hollow shaft to manufacture a cam shaft, a crank shaft or a drive shaft. An oxide layer to suppress the connection is broken by the plastic deformation in the peripheral edge layer in the through hole. The oxide layer is removed in the reducing atmosphere or in a reducing bath. The rotational moment to be transmitted of the component and the hollow shaft is further improved, and the usage region of the component to which the maximum stress is applied, such as the crank shaft, is expanded.
