PURPOSE: To prevent a light leak from a cover end face with a simple structure by applying a prescribed paint film to a translucent cover member.
CONSTITUTION: This cover 2 for a luminaire is provided with a translucent cover member 2a covering an apparatus main body 1, a light absorbing paint film 14 formed on the surfaces of the portions A, B of the portion 2a shielding the the main body 1, and a paint film 15 in the desired color formed on the film 14. When a lamp is lighted, the light transmitting the portion of the cover member 2a where the paint film 14 is formed is partially absorbed by the paint film 14, the reflected light on the paint film 15 is totally reflected on the inner face of the member 2a and again enters the paint film 14, and it is again absorbed. The radiation of light at the end section of the member 2a can be reduced by the repeated absorption.
