To provide a cowcatcher for taking out obstacles on a rail which is reduced in size and weight and installable with ease.
This cowcatcher 30 comprises: a cowcatcher member 31; energy absorbing members 32, 33, 34; a support seat 36; a support pedestal 38; and a rod 40 arranged in this order from the front in the traveling direction. The support pedestal 38 is tightened to the lower surface 3b of a frame through a tightening member 39 with bolts. The rear surface of the support pedestal 38 is tightened to the lower surface 3b of the frame through the rod 40 with bolts. The energy absorbing members 32, 33, 34 are joined to the cowcatcher member 31 and the support seat 36. If an obstacle is collided with the cowcatcher member 31, either of the energy absorbing members 32, 33, 34 is collapsed in a bellows shape by its impact energy, and absorbs the impact energy. Consequently, a small-sized, lightweight, and easily installable cowcatcher 30 can be provided.
