Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel laser shock peening method of a hard metallic parts.
SOLUTION: An article is provided with a surface 54 at least a part of which is subjected to the laser beam shock peening(LSP), and a plurality of projections which are extended into the article inside from the surface, separated from each other in the three-dimensional manner, and subjected to LSP. The projections are deep residual compression stress due to LSP, and are extended into the article inside from circular laser beam spots separate from each other on the surface, and the spots are not overlapped. In the LSP method, the laser beam is emitted to different points on the surface 54 of at least a part of the article, and the material of the surface 54 close to the laser beam spot is evaporated to be formed by the laser beam, water flows in a curtain-like manner on the surface 54 subjected to the laser beam, the laser beam is emitted so as to form a plurality of projections which are extended into the article from the spot, subjected to the LSP, and separated from each other in a three- dimensional manner, and the projections have the deep residual compression stress.
