To provide a cradle apparatus configured so that a steel pipe falls to a cradle part not by its own weight when binding a plurality of steel pipes but by housing the steel pipes in the cradle part one by one, thereby preventing noise and collision scratches due to the contact between the steel pipes generated when the steel pipes fall.
A cradle apparatus 1 houses steel pipes P conveyed by a conveying part 10. The cradle apparatus comprises: a cradle part 15 into which the steel pipes P are carried from the conveying part 10; a freely contractible belt 30 arranged at the cradle part 15; a freely openable and closable stopper 20 provided at a carry-in entrance 12 being a boundary between the conveying part 10 and the cradle part 15; and a control part 40 controlling the contraction of the belt 30 and the rotation of the stopper 20. The control part 40 controls the stopper 20 so that the steel pipes P are carried into the cradle 15 part one by one, and performs the control for extending the belt 30 in response to the number of steel pipes P carried into the cradle part 15.
