Abstract:

To provide a crank shaft supporting structure enabling reduction in the peak of a thrust load when a crank arm is elastically deformed.

In the supporting structure, a thrust bearing 10 for receiving a thrust load F2 of a crank shaft 1 is arranged on a bearing 6 which rotatably supports a journal 2 of the crank shaft 1. On the side of a back face 10b of the thrust bearing 10, an oil reservoir 12 is formed as a damping means. When the crank arm 4 is momentarily elastically deformed to be forcibly broadened by a load F1 during combustion to generate the thrust load F2, the crank shaft 1 contacts with the thrust bearing 10 to reduce the peak of the thrust load F2 with oil in the oil reservoir 12 on the side of the back face 10b.
