Abstract:
To provide a method of manufacturing a crank shaft capable of decreasing the weight of a counter weight while ensuring a moment of the counter weight.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a crank shaft includes a step (a), a step (b), and a step (c). In the step (a), a finished forged article 10 with burr having an excess thickness portion 18 is formed by die forging. The excess thickness portion 18 projects outward from an end portion 14s in a width direction of the counter weight 14, in a longitudinal direction of a counter weight 14. In the step (b), the burr is removed. In the step (c), using a pair of first molds 23, a journal 11 is pressed in the longitudinal direction of the counter weight 14. Thereby, the bending of the finished forged article 10 is corrected. Using a jig 24 configuring a part of the molds 23, the excess thickness portion 18 is pressed down in the longitudinal direction of the counter weight 14. Thereby, the material of the excess thickness portion 18 is made to flow in the end portion 14s of the counter weight 14.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9B
