To provide a crankshaft 4 which is suitable for the characteristics of an inertial force of a double-link-type mechanism.
The crankshaft 4 is applied to a double-link-type piston crank mechanism which is provided with an upper link, a lower link, and a control link. One end of the upper link is coupled to a piston through the medium of a piston pin, and the lower link connects the other end of the upper link to a crank pin 5. Then one end of the control link is supported by a cylinder block with possible oscillation, and the other end is coupled to the lower link. A level difference 14, which becomes a boundary for a change in a wall thickness, is provided to the side 13 which is located inside a crank web 4a. Then the wall thickness on the inner peripheral side is heavy, and the wall thickness on the outer peripheral side is thin across the level difference 14. The shape of the level difference 14 is not symmetrical, and the center of gravity is brought to the right of the straight line 36 connecting the center 15 of a main journal to the center of the crank pin 16. Because of this, the inertial force which becomes the maximum at the timing near the bottom dead center, is effectively counterbalanced in agreement with the direction.
