A crawler type work vehicle having left and right steering clutches 12L, 12R, and left and right steering brakes 13L, 13R comprises: rotating speed detecting means; brake hydraulic pressure acquiring means; and brake protecting means. The rotating speed detecting means detects the output rotating speed of each steering brake. The brake hydraulic pressure acquiring means acquires brake hydraulic pressure to be supplied to each steering brake. The brake protecting means computes the heating rate of the steering brake with reference to the output rotating speed and the brake hydraulic pressure, and reduces the output of an engine to execute steering brake protecting processing when the computed heating rate is a preset first threshold value or higher.
