Abstract:

To provide a creep control device and method, which allow active creep driving by controlling driving of a motor according to an inter-vehicle distance from a vehicle in front while a hybrid vehicle is at a complete stop.

The creep control device includes: a vehicle speed detection unit for detecting vehicle traveling speed; an inter-vehicle distance detection unit for detecting a distance from the vehicle in front; a motor control unit for controlling driving of the motor with voltage of a battery; and a hybrid control unit for analyzing the distance from the vehicle in front, which is provided by the inter-vehicle distance detection unit when information from the vehicle speed detection unit during traveling is detected to indicate that the hybrid vehicle is at the complete stop, and performing creep driving by controlling the driving of the motor through the motor control unit when the distance from the vehicle in front is determined to exceed a set distance.
