To eliminate coloring trouble of crops by irradiating the crops with light while preventing attraction of diurnal pests into a house in a crop growing system.
The crop growing system 1 set within a field 2 includes: an ultraviolet lamp 4 for irradiating crops with ultraviolet rays with the wavelength peak in the wavelength range of 300-380 nm; and a control distribution board 5 for controlling the irradiation of the lamp 4. The control distribution board 5 has a setting part 51 for setting an optionally selected time zone for operating the ultraviolet lamp 4 among time zones in which natural light is not applied into the field 2, so that the ultraviolet lamp 4 is operated to emit light in the time zone set by the setting part 51. In this way, the ultraviolet lamp emits light in the optionally selected time zone among the time zones in which natural light is not applied into the field, and the ultraviolet irradiation amount insufficient for the crops 2a within the field 2 is compensated in the nighttime when diurnal pests are not active, and as a result, attraction of the diurnal pests into the house 3 can be prevented all through the daytime, and the coloring trouble of the crops 2a can be prevented.
