To provide a float type cross groove constant velocity universal joint having an improved load capacity while being axially restricted by the interference of an inner ring with a cage.
The cross groove-type constant velocity universal joint includes balls incorporated in crossing portions between ball grooves 12a, 12b of the inner ring 10 and ball grooves 22a, 22b of an outer ring 20 paired with each other, and the cage 40 existing between the inner ring 10 and the outer ring 20 for holding the balls in the same plane where the maximum diameter of the outer peripheral face of the inner ring 10 is larger than the minimum diameter of the inner peripheral face of the cage 40. At both axial ends of the outer peripheral face of the inner ring 10, spherical portions 16a, 16b are formed which have curvature centers at positions offset by a predetermined distance beyond the cross center of the inner ring 10. On the inner peripheral face of the cage 40, a cylindrical portion 44 and spherical portions 46a, 46b are formed which are located at a widthwise center, located at both ends, and have curvature centers at positions offset by a predetermined distance from the widthwise center of the cage 40 to the outside, respectively.
