PURPOSE: To facilitate opeation by forming a screw rod or a support in the shape of a tube and by arranging a pipe supplying liquid pressure to a liquid-pressure loading mechanism such as a cylinder inside the screw rod or the support.

CONSTITUTION: After a sample is mounted on a testing bed 1, each ajusting nut is rotated by a motor, chain, gear and the like and thereby the cross-head 3 is elevated to the height corresponding to the height of the sample. Since the pipe 7 is built inside the screw rod 2, it gives no hindrance to operation. Moreover, outside the screw rod 2 the pipe 7 is set with a prescribed length of slack from the upper end of the screw rod 2 and, therefore, it gives no hindrance to the elevation of the crosshead 3. After the height of the cross-head 3 is adjusted, liquid pressure is supplied from the pipe 7 to a cylinder 5 by a liquid-pressure supplying device, a ram 6 is pressed down by the liquid pressure and thereby tesing load is rendered to the sample. Thus, the operation can be facilitated.
