To obtain a polymer which can form a cured film which is excellent in solvent extraction resistance, weatherability and abrasion resistance by making the acrylic part of a vinylidene fluoride polymer-based, acrylate-modified fluoropolymer comprise a monomer residue having functional groups including those other than COOH which can participate in a reaction so that the acrylic part is cross-linked.
This acrylate-modified fluoropolymer is based on a vinylidene fluoride polymer selected from the group consisting of polyvinylidene fluoride homopolymer and a vinylidene fluoride-hexafluoropropylene copolymer. It comprises an acrylic group with a monomer residue having functional groups which can participate in a reaction so that the acrylic part is cross-linked. It is preferable that the vinylidene fluoride polymer be a vinylidene fluoride- hexafluoropropylene copolymer and the acrylic part be prepd. by copolymerizing methyl methacrylate, ethyl acrylate and glycidyl methacrylate in the presence of the vinylidene fluoridehexafluoropropylene copolymer.
