PURPOSE: To prevent the buckling of a rolling material to be generated in the stage of cross rolling with respect to various sheet widths by disposing press rolls which are divided to a plurality in the transverse direction of the rolling material and can move in the transverse direction of the rolling material between a pair of edger rolls in a manner as to contact with the top and bottom surface of the rolling material.

CONSTITUTION: Two pieces each of the upper and lower press rolls 4 are disposed to the roll tool part between the edger rolls 2. The rolls 4 consist of the right and left rolls 41, 42 and bearing parts 43 and are so constituted that the distance S between the centers of the right and left press rolls can be freely and positionally adjusted in the transverse direction of the material 1. The upper rolls 4 can be vertically moved by screw down devices so that the gap of the rolls 4 can be set according to the thickness of the rolling material 1. The distance S between the centers of the rolls 4 which are divided to N-pieces in the transverse direction of the material 1 is preferably set within the range expressed by the following equation: 0.7W/N≤S≤1.2W/N, where W is the width of the material 1.
