PURPOSE: To automatically classify and drop nonmagnetic cans and magnetic cans at the time of crushing empty cans for drinks, etc., supplied in a specified direction so as to flatten these cans in their axial direction and dropping the empty cans after the crushing.

CONSTITUTION: A stationary body 11 is provided with cavities (i) (ii) respectively in the spacing from the stationary body and an intermediate position. A front guide 12 and a rear guide 13 are installed on the same axial line. A moving body 14 which is made of a nonmagnetic material having a cup shape and is supported on the rear guide 13 is advanced toward the stationary body 11 by pressurized contact of a pressing body 17 which exists in the rear part of the moving body and has a permanent magnet 17a on the front surface. As a result, the empty cans X supplied intermittently in the specified direction on the front guide 12 are crushed to the flat state with the stationary body 11. These empty cans are dropped to either of the cavities (i) (ii) provided in the respective positions of the initial period of retreat of the moving body retreating together with the pressing body 17 and the mid-way of the retreat.
