Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce a crystal-oriented coated cemented carbide with the adhesion between the substrate and a coating film enhanced at the time of coating the surface of the WC cemented carbide substrate with the film of group IVa metal carbides, etc., by specifying the crystal orientations of the WC on the substrate surface and the coating film in contact with the substrate surface.
CONSTITUTION: A part or the whole of the surface of a WC cemented carbide is coated with ≥1 kind among the carbide, carbo-oxide, nitride and nitro-oxide of groups IVa and Vb metals or their solid solution in a single or plural layers to obtain the coated cemented carbide. More than 80% of the X-ray reflection- to-diffraction intensity ratio between the angles of diffraction 20-70° (2θ) of the WC on the substrate surface by the Cu-Kα X-rays consists of a (100) face and/or a (001) face. A first coating film in contact with the substrate surface consists of a BI-type compd., and ≥80% of the x-ray reflection-to-diffraction intensity ratio between the angles of 20-70° (2θ) of the compd. by the Cu-Kα X-ray consists of a (111) face. The crystal is thus oriented.
