To provide a crystal oscillator that eliminates a harmful effect caused by diffusing a conductive joining material to an excitation electrode, and has satisfactory joining properties when joining a metal support to a crystal vibration plate.
The crystal vibrator comprises: a base 1 in which two metal lead terminals 11, 12 having metal supports 13, 14 are penetrated and implanted; and a planar crystal vibration plate 2 that is mounted to the metal supports 13, 14 and is joined electrically and mechanically via the conductive joining material 3. In the crystal vibrator, the excitation electrodes 25, 26, extraction electrodes 27, 28, and connection electrodes are formed on the main surface of the crystal vibration plate 2, the connection electrodes are formed only at least at two edges in the crystal vibration plate 2, and crystal vibration plate holding sections 132, 142 of the metal supports 13, 14 are joined to the connection electrodes of the crystal vibration plate 2 by the conductive joining material 3, thus forming the extraction electrodes 27, 28 for connecting the external surfaces of the crystal vibration plate holding sections 132, 142 of the metal supports 13, 14 to the excitation electrodes 25, 26 of the crystal vibration plate 2.
