PURPOSE: To stabilize the characteristics of a crystal oscillator by holding a quartz piece by supporting parts provided at the top of Y-type bent branch parts of a terminal metallic fixture.

CONSTITUTION: A thin metallic piece 6 is bent to form a trunk part 6-1, branch parts 6-2 projecting to left and right under the part 6-1, and supporting parts 6-3 provided to end parts of the branch parts, and further the branch parts 6-2 are bent in an Y shape including the trunk part 6-1 to obtain terminal metallic fixtures 6a and 6b. Those terminal metallic fixtures 6a and 6b are arranged opposite horizontally, and a quartz piece 5 is placed on them to be supported by the supporting parts 6-3 of the terminal metallic fixtures. Then, a conductive paint is dripped on each supporting part and then heated to set. Consequently, the quartz piece 5 is stuck to respective supporting parts to be held at four points with sufficient mechanical strength, and top and reverse electrodes 5-1 are connected to the terminal metallic fixtures 6a and 6b, respectively. Then, the constituted body is covered with containers 7a and 7b having the internal surfaces of end parts 7-1 coated previously from the top and reverse and after the containers are connected through heating and softening in an electric furnace, the coating is set, thus obtaining an oscillator 8.
