To obtain the subject new crystalline carbapenem compound having a specific structure and angles of diffraction in powder X-ray diffraction, having a wide antibacterial spectrum, a high antibacterial activity and excellent safety, and useful as an antibacterial agent or medicines, etc.
New (1R, 5S, 6S, 8R)-2-[(6S)6,7-dihydro-5H-pyrrolo [1,2-a]imidazol6-yl]thio-6(1-hydroxyethyl)-1methyl-1-carbadethiapen2-em-3-carboxylic acid pivaloyloxymethyl ester compound having a structure of the formula and having main peaks at diffraction angles 2θ(°): 8.8, 9.9, 10.1, 16.2, 16.5, 17.2, 17.7, 19.0, 19.8, 20.2, 20.6 and 26.3. The compound has excellent antibacterial activities against gram-negative bacterial and gram-positive bacterial by oral administration, and is useful as an antibacterial agent for medicine, etc.
