Abstract:
To provide an Al or Al-alloy grain refining method minimal in clogging of filter, capable of refining the crystalline grains of an Al or Al-alloy casting requiring strict surface characteristic, and also to provide an Al-Ti master alloy added and used for this purpose.
An Al-Ti master alloy, prepared at ≤900°C by using granular Ti as raw material, is added as a grain refining agent to molten Al or Al alloy. The Al-Ti master alloy, added for grain refining, is produced by using granular Ti as raw material while regulating the additive quantity of Ti and melting temp. to ≤2wt.% and ≤900°C, respectively.
