Abstract:

To provide a dye-based crystallizable aqueous red coloring material that is excellent in alkali resistance and a process for simply and conveniently producing the crystallizable aqueous red coloring material.

The crystallizable aqueous red coloring material comprising a polyion complex of a hydrophilic cation polymer having a cationic group and a coloring anion which has a quinacridone skeleton to which a sulfonate group is attached can provide a coloring material excellent in alkali resistance. The coloring material has a particle size easily controlled even in the case when it is micellar in form, has good dispersibility without need of adding any dispersing agent and is excellent in water resistance and weathering resistance.
