PURPOSE: To provide the subject new cubane derivatives useful as an anti-peptic ulcer agent having a suitable aggressive factor-inhibitory effect in combination with a protective factor-enhancing effect.
CONSTITUTION: A compound of formula I {p-q is each CH-CR1 or CX2-V-CX1 [R1 is H, CONR3R4, C(Z)2OH or NHCOOR5 (R3 and R4 are each H, a lower alkyl, a lower alkyl-substituted amino-containing lower alkyl or a 5 to 7-membered heterocycle formed together with the bonded N atom and optionally having a substituent group; Z is a lower alkyl or a monocyclic aryl; R5 is a lower alkyl); V is carbonyl which may be protected; X1 and X2 are each H, a lower alkoxy or a halogen)]; A is formula II (W is a lower alkylene; R2 is a halogen or NR3R4)} or its salt, e.g. 4-[(dimethylamino)carbonyl]- pentacyclo[4.2.0.0.2.50.3.80.4.7-]octane-1-carboxylic acid.
