Abstract:

To provide a cubic boron nitride sintered compact tool which includes a cubic boron nitride sintered compact sustainable under severe conditions, which is bonded in a firm and rigid manner.

The cubic boron nitride sintered compact tool comprises the cubic boron nitride sintered compact bonded to a tool base material through a bonding layer. The cubic boron nitride sintered compact contains 30 vol.% or more and 95 vol.% or less of cubic boron nitride particles and 5 vol.% or more and 70 vol.% or less of a bonded phase. When a point distant by the length of 1/4 of the length of a line connecting point A to point B is taken as point D in at least one cut surface of the cubic boron nitride sintered compact tool cut along a plane vertical to a bonded surface having the maximum area of the bonded surfaces of the cubic boron nitride sintered body and the bonding layer, the value obtained by dividing the area of a region surrounded by a line connecting point C to the point D, a first cubic boron nitride particle, a second cubic boron nitride particle and the bonded phase is 0.14 μm or more and 0.6 μm or less.
