Abstract:
PURPOSE: To carry out the cultivation of microalgae in high efficiency and production rate while effectively utilizing the whole depth of the liquid by placing an optical waveguide having light-leaking part in a culture liquid and irradiating the liquid under specific condition.
CONSTITUTION: An optical waveguide 20 having light-leaking parts 22 is placed in a culture liquid containing carbon dioxide. Light from a light source 28 is collected and guided to the optical waveguide 20. The culture liquid is irradiated with light leaked from the leaking parts 22 at a luminous intensity of 1,000-20,000lux to culture microalgae.
