Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enables curing to be conducted without alkylolation or etherification by using a curable compsn., comprising a particular carbamate-contg. polymer (A) and a compd. (B) having a plurality of functional groups reactive with the carbamate group, in the form of a solid powder or a soln. thereof in an org. solvent.
SOLUTION: A curable, carbamate functional polymer compsn. comprising: a component (A) having a structure represented by the formula (wherein R1 represents H or methyl; R2 represents H, an alkyl, or a cycloalkyl; L represents a divalent binding group; A represents a repeating unit derived from a single or a plurality of ethylenically unsatd. monomers; (x) is 10 to 90wt.%; (y) is 90 to 10wt.%; and x+y is 100wt.%), the component (A) having a mol.wt. of 2,000 to 20,000, a carbamate content of 200 to 500, and a glass transition temp. of 10 to 80°C; and a component (B) selected from among an aminoplast resin, a polysiloxane, a polyacid anhydride, and a compd. having a plurality of active methylol sensitive groups. Solvents usable herein include polar org. solvents (e.g. methyl ethyl ketone), and the amt. of the solvent used is 0.01 to 99wt.%.
