Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a curable composition for top-coating, having excellent water-resistance, scratch resistance, appearance, acid resistance and thermal curability and suitable for automobile, etc., by compounding respective specific vinyl copolymer with organopolysiloxane and curing catalyst at specific ratios.
CONSTITUTION: This composition is produced by compounding (A) 100 pts.wt. of a vinyl copolymer having main chain composed essentially of a vinyl copolymer chain, containing one or more hydrolyzable silyl groups of the formula I (R1 is 1-10C alkyl or aryl; R2 is H, 1-10C alkyl, aryl, etc.; (a) is 0-2) on the main chain terminal and/or the side chain and one or more alcoholic hydroxyl groups on the main chain terminal and/or the side chain and having an alcoholic hydroxyl equivalent of 400-2,000g/equivalent with (B) 1-200 pts.wt. of a silanol- containing organopolysiloxane having one or more silanol groups and expressed by the formula II (R10 and R11 are phenyl, 1-4C alkyl or hydroxyl; (t) is 1-10) and (C) 0.001-10 pts.wt. of a curing catalyst such as dibutyltin dilaurate.
