Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compsn. which cures at normal temp. or under heating and gives a coating film excellent in weatherability, stain resistance, and adhesiveness by compounding a selected acrylic copolymer having reactive silyl groups with a silicon compd., a cure catalyst, and an adhesion improver in a specified ratio.
SOLUTION: 100 pts.wt. acrylic copolymer having carbon-bonded reactive silyl groups represented by formula I (wherein R1 is H or a 1-10C alkyl; R2 is a 1-10C alkyl, aryl, or aralkyl; and a is 0-2) is compounded with 2-70 pts.wt. silicon compd. represented by formula II (wherein R3 and R4 are each the same as R2; and b is 0-1) and (or) its condensate of partial hydrolyzate, 0.6-25 pts.wt. mixture of 0.1-20 pts.wt. cure catalyst contg. 0.1-2.0 pts.wt. organotin catalyst with 0.5-5 pts.wt. hydrolyzable silylated compd. coordinatable to the organotin catalyst, and 0.1-20 pts.wt. silane coupling agent and (or) its reaction product.
