To provide a curable rubber composition which has excellent storage stability, has a large curing speed, can produce a cured product having excellent weather resistance, is useful as a coating, rapidly cures at ordinary temperature, gives coating films having highly excellent surface gloss, can freely adjust the surface hardness of the coating films by the addition of ethyl silicate to the copolymer rubber, and is useful not only in the field of paints but also in the fields of coating compositions for airplanes, buildings, automobiles, and so on, sealing compositions, and surface treating agents for various inorganic substances.
This curable rubber composition characterized by comprising a silyl group-containing ethylene/α-olefin/non-conjugated polyene random copolymer rubber which has constituent units derived from a specific terminal vinyl group-containing norbornene compound of non-conjugated polyene and which contains specified hydrolysable silyl groups in the molecule, an alcohol and/or a hydrolysable ester compound such as an alkyl ortho-formate, a hydrolysable organic silicon component such as an alkoxy silane, and, if necessary, a curing accelerator.
