Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject curing agent having excellent characteristics as a curing agent for an epoxy resin and capable of exhibiting effects even as a curing accelerator by copolymerizing a specific maleimide derivative with styrene and a specified maleic anhydride derivative.
SOLUTION: This curing agent comprises a maleimide copolymer obtained by copolymerizing (A) a maleimide derivative represented by formula I or II (R1 to R4 are each H, a 1-8C alkyl, a 2-8C alkenyl or the like; R5 is a 1-5C alkylene, a 3-8 cycloalkylene or the like; R6 is H or a 1-8C alkyl) (preferably carboxyphenylmaleimide or the like) with (B) styrene and (C) a maleic anhydride derivative. The amounts of the reacted components are preferably 1-30 mol% of the component A, 30-65 mol% of the component B and 20-60 mol% of the component C. A cured epoxy resin having a high glass transition temperature can be obtained by using the curing agent.
