Abstract:
PURPOSE: To treat mammalian autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus by administering nalmefene or naltrexone as a narcotic antagonist agent in a specific dose. CONSTITUTION: Nalmefene (6-methylene-6-desoxy-N-cyclopropylmethyl-14- hydroxydihydronormorphine) or naltrexone (N-cyclopropylmethyl-14- hydroxydihydromorphinone) is administered to a patient with an autoimmune disease (human or mammalian) in a daily dose of about 1-100mg. Said medicinal composition can be easily and safely given through the oral route to a patient with an autoimmune disease such as systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, autoimmune thyroiditis and the like.
