To provide a compact current carrying device for a sliding door, always connected with simple structure and allowing constant monitoring and simple after-fitted construction.

The current carrying device 100 for the sliding door comprises a casing 21 provided at a fittings frame 13; a reel turnably provided at the casing 21 and provided with an annular conductor; a contact brought into pressure contact with the annular conductor so that a signal current is applied thereto; a cable with the base end fixed to the reel to connect a base end side conductor to the annular conductor and with the tip fixed to the sliding door 1 to connect a tip side conductor to an electric appliance 17, and the cable having a length not less than the moving distance of the sliding door 11 and wound around the reel; and an energizing means interposed between the casing 21 and the reel and energizing the reel in a rotating direction to wind the cable.
