Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily detect a short circuit failure on a current collecting plate of a square battery and prevent in advance a short circuit caused by a burr generated during cutting or existence of sputters generated during welding of the current collecting plate and an electrode plate.SOLUTION: A battery unit in which current collecting plates 20 having folded sections 21 on both side edges are firmly fixed to the opposing faces of an electrode plate group 10 for a square battery is stored in a metallic battery case 30. Then sections opposing to each other in the thickness direction on the battery case 30, the sections corresponding to the folded sections 21, are pressed so as to clamp the sections. Under the pressure, the short circuit inspection of the battery case 30 and the current collecting plates 20 of the battery unit is executed. When a projecting object exists on the folded sections 21, since a short circuit is generated between the battery case 30 and the current collecting plate 20 by applying pressure, a short circuit failure caused by the shape of the current collecting plate 20 can be detected.
