Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quicken returning operation without abnormal temperature increase of an element having positive resistance temperature coefficient by combining the element and a contact.
SOLUTION: This breaker has a ceramic element (PTC element) 10 having positive resistance temperature coefficient suddenly increasing resistance value when temperature reaches the prescribed value, a shape memory member 21 whose shape is memorized so as to displace by the prescribed distance when the temperature exceeds the prescribed value, and a moving contact connected to the shape memory member 21. In the stationary state in which current lower than rated current flows in a electric path, a moving contact 41 comes in contact with the shape memory member 21 to close a circuit, and in the abnormal state in which current higher than the rated current flows in the electric path, the resistance value of the PTC element 10 is suddenly increased to suppress excess current flowing in the electric path, and the shape memory member 21 displaces by the prescribed distance, and the moving contact 41 is separated from the fixed contact 42.
