PURPOSE: To allow the repeated use under the high voltage by storing a material sublimated at a high temperature between electrodes in an insulating container arranged with a pair of electrodes.
CONSTITUTION: Electrodes 1 concurrently serve as containers of end sections and are provided at both ends of a cylindrical container 2 made of an insulating material. Ring-shaped carbon electrodes 3 are fixed to the electrodes 1 by shrinkage fitting or screwing. The outer diameter of the carbon movable electrode 4 is made smaller than the inner diameter of the carbon electrode 3 to form a clearance, a spring 6 is used so that a carbon lamp has the contact pressure when no current or a small current is fed and the necessary gap is formed via the gasification by sublimation when a large current is fed and the electrode potential drop occurs. This device is not required to be replaced and can be repeatedly used under the high voltage.
