To provide a PTC current limiting device in which a PTC (with positive temperature coefficient of resistance) element plate can raise temperature in the whole and at the same time.
A PTC current limiting device 10 is constituted with a PTC element 11, and electrode plates 12, 13 fixed to the top and bottom of the PTC element 11. The PTC element 11 consists of a thick part 11a projecting in the central part and a thin part 11b positioned outward from the thick part 11a. The electrode plate 13 has a recess 13a having a U-shaped cross section, formed in the central part so as to fit to the thick part 11a and a thick part 13b formed in the outer circumferential part. The specific resistance in the thick part (central part) 11a becomes smaller than that in the thin part (outer circumferential part) 11b, and thereby, temperature rising in the whole PTC element is made uniform.
