PURPOSE: To realize a current sensor of which the characteristics are not affected by nonalignment in positions of a gap of a core and a magnetoresistance element unless the nonalignment is large.
CONSTITUTION: In regard to a current sensor equipped with a magnetic field generating means which generates a magnetic field according to a current, a magnetic field converging means which converges the magnetic field generated by the magnetic field generating means and a magnetic field detecting means which is prepared by using a magnetoresistance element formed of a ferromagnetic film, the magnetoresistance element 12 made up of a magnetoresistance pattern 18 formed of a ferro-magnetic thin film and magnetic concentrator parts 21 and 21' provided by disposing magnetic substances on the opposite sides of the pattern is used. For the magnetic field concentrating means, a core 11 of a magnetic substance having a gap 13 in a ring-shaped part is used, the magnetic field generating means is disposed in the shape of a coil on the magnetic field concentrating means and the opposite ends of the gap 13 of the magnetic field generating means are disposed in contact with or in proximity to the magnetic concentrator parts 21 and 21' of the magnetoresistance element 12 in the construction.
